What Suppliers Need From
Distributors To Ensure Speedy,
Accurate Shipping
WANT TO MAKE SURE your quick-ship order arrives on time and with no
errors? Follow these tips from industry suppliers who offer products for delivery
in 72 hours or sooner:
• Know the limitations of decoration type and location for a supplier’s rush
service products
• Ask if the rush service timeline includes shipping time, or if it only applies
to production
• Indicate your service preference clearly on your order (e.g., rush service,
three-day service, etc.)
• Pay attention to order deadlines. Some suppliers require rush orders to
be submitted earlier than standard orders.
• Submit camera-ready artwork in conjunction with the order, both as a
digital copy and as a hard copy
• Supply all requested information on the order
• Review catalog quantities and double-check available inventory before
submitting your order
• Be prepared to pre-pay or show credit approval
Knightly
Innovation
THE ADHESIVE
POSTAGE STAMP was
invented by
Englishman Rowland
Hill in 1837, for which
he received knight-
hood. Hill is also cred-
ited with implementing
standard postal rates
based on weight rather
than size. The first
stamp in the world was
issued three years
later. The stamp’s
predecessor, the post-
mark, was created by
fellow Brit Henry
Bishop roughly 200
years earlier.
Fastest Mail
On Four Legs
IN ITS 19-MONTH
EXISTENCE, the Pony
Express reportedly lost just
one delivery. At its height,
the service boasted 100
stations, 80 riders and as
many as 500 horses along
the 2,000-mile trail from
St. Joseph, Missouri to
Sacramento, California.
