While the world’s scientists and researchers worked to develop a vaccine, economic nationalism rose in several countries. In the U.S., manufacturing struggled to keep up with pandemic-related demands for life-saving products such as ventilators, N95 face masks and personal protective equipment, opening opportunities for more companies to step up.
