Why Enter The PPAI Pyramid Competition? I must admit, the annual PPAI Pyramid Awards Competition is exciting to enter—especially when your entry becomes a finalist. After all, it’s the promotional product industry’s version of the Oscars. The intrinsic satisfaction of this achievement pays great dividends to one’s sense of accomplishment toward personal and professional growth. However, the competition has additional benefits many should consider who also want to rise to the next level of credibility and growth with their own customers. The competition, weighted on sequential processes and stringent criteria, challenges every distributor to conduct proper research and thorough discovery on its client’s initiatives before any campaign is created, conducted and measured. Then, and only then, can the campaign become a relevant candidate for the Pyramids. Creative ideation is good but stopping there risks “your cool idea” of becoming a pretty shell without marketing purpose and process measurement. In short, the Pyramids challenge entrants to be better marketers, smarter strategists, sharper writers, and of course, creative campaigners.
