NEW MEMBER SPOTLIGHT How did your company get its start? Holland Bar Stool Company is not just a bar stool company. Within our Holland, Michigan, manufacturing facility, the company has expanded into a variety of fields, each taking advantage of the design and production abilities that make us unique in our industry. What started out with a few styles of wooden stools almost 25 years ago has become a full line of home seating and home decor/rec room products. Through our growth, Holland has stayed true to our commitment to quality and service. What has been the trademark of HBS since the beginning is the ability to customize our products to fit the customer’s individual needs. From the onset, there was no such thing as a standard stool. Multiple finish options, leg styles, heights ... even custom heights or custom-stained stools let the customers and dealers get exactly what they wanted, rather than settling for what’s available. This concept carried to the steel stools, where a variety of powder-coated finishes and hundreds of fabric options let customers “build” their own stool. What led your company to enter the promotional products market? Holland Bar Stool Co. first started making branded/promotional products in an effort to diversify the company and product offering. With the many years of manufacturing and a wealth of industry connections, HBS made a determined effort to take even greater advantage of their company’s strengths. Over the past few years, HBS has obtained licensing for over 125 colleges and universities, The National Hockey League, all branches of the U.S. military, Indian Motorcycle and others. Besides tables and stools, we now offer clocks, mirrors, canvas art and grill, tire, TV and pool table covers. In this continuous process of developing new products utilizing ever- expanding capabilities, Holland now offers game room furniture, game tables (shuffleboard, pool, foosball and dome hockey) and an assortment of billiard accessories (including cue stick holders, billiard lights and billiard triangles.) With HBS products, you can now create a complete game room with furniture, game tables and wall decor. What’s your favorite thing about being in the promotional products industry? What we really enjoy about the promotional products market is the consistent change. From artwork and design to the variations in product development, no job is the same. We thrive on being problem solvers and are always looking for ways to grow. We aim to please and we find a lot of satisfaction within this expansive industry. Why did you join PPAI?
