Over my 10-year career in finance, I enjoyed wearing cufflinks every day and found it was difficult to find affordable, stylish and good quality cufflinks. Cuffwear started as an e-commerce business in the fashion industry, catering to the increasing demand for online shopping, and has now grown to also serve the menswear retailer and promotional products markets. Cuffwear also makes custom logo cufflinks and accessories for more than 300 U.S. college bookstores, and has vending machines in major airports dispensing cufflinks and other accessories. What led your company to enter the promotional products market? After launching Cuffwear’s e-commerce business, we started receiving inquiries about custom logo cufflinks. These turned out to be a big hit and we found distributors were looking for good quality cufflinks with premium packaging that came from a more fashionable brand. Cufflinks have made a big comeback since the 1980s and 1990s when they were only for high-level executives. With the introduction of business casual, we are now seeing cufflinks being worn by a much broader client base. The biggest trend in men’s fashion is affordable, custom-tailored clothing. Formal suits and ties are no longer the norm and men are choosing more fashionable attire and pairing outfits with patterned, custom-made shirts with cufflinks and more fitted pants and even stylish sneakers. What’s your favorite thing about being in the promotional products industry? Our favorite part is the great relationships we make with our customers. It’s fun to work with great people and see projects start from an idea and work all the way to full production and delivery. Why did you join PPAI? We wanted to have as much exposure as possible in the promotional products industry. We feel being a PPAI member and exhibiting at the PPAI Expo is the best way to showcase our products and build the best personal relationships with distributors.
