IN MEMORIAM / William S. Epstein William S. Epstein, former executive vice president at Pilgrim Plastic Products Company and past president of the PPAI Board of Directors, passed away on July 13. He was 87. Epstein joined the promotional products industry as an intern at supplier Pilgrim Plastic Products through Northeastern University’s co-op program. After graduation, he went to work for Pilgrim full time and spent 45 years with the company before retiring in 1998. He was a founder of WRAPP-V (Worldwide, Roburn, Artmold, Pilgrim, Providence and Vitronic), the first traveling supplier group to award incentive travel to distributors based on volume sales. With WRAPP-V, Epstein planned incentive trips around the world. He participated in numerous PPAI committees, served on the PPAI Board and was PPAI Board president in 1982-1983. He also was an active volunteer with the New England Promotional Products Association (NEPPA). His accomplishments outside the industry include serving as past master of the Adelphi Masonic Lodge. Epstein is survived by his wife, Ethel Epstein; his children: son Marc and his wife Annette, daughter Amy and her husband Paul; and son Aaron; sister Judy Epstein; former wife Myrna Epstein; grandchildren Dana and Matt Starr; Zachary Holt; Avidan Edelsberg; Daniel Edelsberg and Kerren Edelsberg; and great-grandchild Syren Edelsberg. He was preceeded in death by his grandson Paul Epstein. A service for Epstein was held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Canton, Massachusetts, with burial at Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC). IN MEMORIAM / Carrie Riney Carrie Riney, owner of distributor IPROMOTEu/On Point Promotional Team (PPAI 670706) in Plano, Texas, passed away on July 25. She was 52. Born in Texas, Riney attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel hospitality from the University of North Texas. During her time in the hospitality industry, she served as president of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International. She started her own business in the promotional products industry in 2016. She had previously worked in outside sales at Peak Promotions, and as vice president of sales for the Inman Promotional Team. Riney is survived by her husband, Carey; her sons: Morgan; Jacob and his wife Emmy; Caleb and his wife Sarah; and Micah and his wife Christine; her grandchildren: Lilly, Cash, Lucas, Warren and Cal; her aunt, Bradley Sue Howell, and cousins Mark Howell, Celeste Hlavenka and Jane Walker. A funeral service was held July 30. The family requested that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Carrie Riney Memorial Fund at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
