PPB May 2018
by James Khattak | MAY 2018 | 79 CONNECT The 2018 PPAI Women’s Leadership Conference (WLC) arrives in Tinseltown this summer for three days of camaraderie, insights and education. WLC will be held at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, California, on June 25-27. The industry’s premier event for women is designed for those looking to hone their leadership skills, enhance their business proficiency, grow personally and professionally, and expand their networks with dozens of new business contacts. WLC begins with a welcome reception and presentation of the 2018 Woman of Achievement Award on June 25 followed by two full days of insightful speakers and panelists. The schedule includes several breakouts and roundtable discussions alongside a distinguished lineup of general session speakers. Victoria Turner, entrepreneur, executive coach and founder of Your Power Outlet, will open WLC’s education programming by encouraging her audience to stop second guessing themselves and to shut down their negative inner voices. She will stress the importance of reframing negative impulses into more productive actions to create deeper connections, make goals more attainable and accelerate careers. Communications expert, motivational speaker and author Sarita Maybin will guide her audience through the process of maintaining positivity and productivity in the face of change, challenge and uncertain times. Her session focuses on coping mechanisms for workplace challenges, skills to communicate concerns effectively and tactics to stay motivated and passionate. General session speaker Christine Hassler, author, coach and TV and podcast host, will focus on leadership and empowering leaders to “walk the talk.” Her program demonstrates the connection between self-awareness and leadership effectiveness and illuminates potential blind spots when it comes to being impactful in both business and life. In her session at WLC, Jess Ekstrom, founder of Headbands of Hope, will challenge her audience to create a bucket list with a personal plan and timeline for making it happen. Ekstrom will tackle the two most common roadblocks to reaching that bucket list: the courage to try and self-belief. At press time, limited seating was still available, but the conference is expected to sell out. For more on the WLC agenda and to register, visit www.ppai.org and click on Events.
